Can we be honest?

We have to tell the truth. AI generated our last two newsletters. We asked ‘the machine’ to give us some insight on a subject that we thought would be helpful; but in doing so, we joined the mainstream where ChatGPT pumps out basic content to the masses.

We were wrong to do this, and we humbly apologise for what we did.

Our mistake

Our analytic system tells us how many people read what we write. There was no surprise to see that few of you scanned what we sent out. Our words fell on deaf-ears. We wasted our time–and yours.

In the beginning of this new world of AI generated content, we were excited, when we found ChatGPT. “This is innovative,” we thought. “Our customers will be pleased to see what we can come up with.” We were mistaken.

So, where do we go from here?

Our first activity was a team meeting. To stand out, we decided, means being profoundly helpful. We have to offer practical, real-world experience and actual stories about problems we have solved. Truthful stuff.

The question is?

Will this approach attract fewer people? Maybe. After all, consumers who read on-line articles from companies who make the products that they love, need respect. Yes, of course, some have a fondness for the fact that AI generates an endless stream of surface-level content in seconds! But it’s not real life. Is it?

From now on, we will write from the heart – not from a machine.

We are sure that you will be able to tell the difference. With content on a specific theme, items that we actually know all about, and have tested on ourselves are the topics that we hope will be of interest to you. That’s our challenge. “Pocket-sized Scottish skincare company leads the field,” is what we want to be known for.

Thank you for reading this communication.

The first of what will be our new-style newsletter will drop into your in-box on Sunday (after teatime), and if you have a little of your valuable time to read it, then we will be chuffed.

Kindest regards from Jim, Sheila, Anthony and the others in our small but mighty team at Dundonald in Ayrshire.
